SECURING LOADING DOCKS WITH CUSTOM BAY DOORS

Washington Department of Natural Resources Enhances Loading Docks with New Bay Doors

The Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages millions of acres of state lands and relies on efficient logistics to maintain their operations. With two loading docks in need of upgrades, DNR faced challenges with their old bay doors, which were not the right fit and lacked the necessary ventilation, leading to concerns with pests and security.

Malfunctioning Doors

The department’s existing loading dock doors were failing to meet operational standards, creating a need for proper fitting, security, and ventilation. Ill-fitting doors had been previously installed, resulting in poor performance. Additionally, birds and bugs were frequently entering the docks, creating a nuisance and health concern. DNR needed doors that provided proper sealing, were visually appealing, and addressed their security needs, especially for the larger doors where higher protection was critical.

The Proper Fit

After a thorough consultation process that involved back-and-forth discussions on door options, sizes, and lock configurations, DACO partnered with Goff’s Enterprises to install the following bay doors:

  • 3 Side Seal Sliding Doors, 14’x14′, RED, with Cam Lock
  • 2 Side Seal Sliding Doors, 9’x10′, RED, NO Cam Lock
  • 1 Side Seal Sliding Door, 12’x12′, RED, with Cam Lock

The standout feature of these doors is the striking red finish, which not only adds a touch of aesthetic appeal to the facility but also enhances visibility and safety around the loading dock areas.

Key Features:

  • Ventilation: The new doors offer better ventilation, reducing the problem of birds and bugs entering the facility.
  • Security: The larger doors were equipped with center cam locks to provide additional security, ensuring that the department’s assets and equipment remain protected.
  • Customization: Goff’s doors were customized to meet the department’s specific needs, including various sizes and lock configurations for optimal security and function.

Benefits from the Customization

The installation of new sliding doors at DNR’s loading docks has brought substantial improvements in efficiency, safety, and quality of life. These doors, featuring larger dimensions and cam locks, enhance security, particularly for valuable materials stored nearby. Improved ventilation helps maintain cleanliness by reducing bird and insect entry, and the vibrant red color adds a modern, professional look that’s easy to spot. Custom-sized for a better fit, the doors also enhance insulation, lowering energy costs by minimizing drafts.
